Exceptional Gentian liqueurs, in homage to the most badass grandmother you can imagine.
Two Parisian Couples
One night in Paris, long-term friends Elodie, Emmanuelle, Olivier, and Antoine were out at a restaurant. The wine had been flowing freely, and they were finishing up their meal with a slightly unusual digestif – a gentian liqueur. This particular drink fell out of fashion a while ago and is often associated with elderly French ladies, festooned with lavender and half-finished crochet projects. As the friends sipped on their liqueurs, they decided it was about time to rejuvenate gentian and turn this image on its head.
When creating La Jeannette, the friends came up with a 100% natural recipe, made from fresh and wild gentian roots hand-picked in the volcanoes of the Auvergne region. Hints of citrus fruit and vine peaches round out the palate, creating a beautifully balanced array of flavours without ever having to resort to artificial colours or flavouring.
Gentian liqueur carries with it a sense of fond nostalgia, tying a knot from the new generation to their grandparents. La Jeannette represents a modern-day, slightly cheeky mamie, passing down her love of gentian to her grandchildren. They, in turn, will update and revise it, creating a stylish new liqueur from the traditional base.
A true French classic
Elodie, Emmanuelle, Olivier and Antoine may have come up with La Jeannette on a whim, but the quality and innovation of the final product is nothing to be sniffed at. Having crowd-funded their way to creating the first small batches of La Jeannette, they have successfully produced a gorgeously balanced gentian liqueur. La Jeannette is adored not only by contemporary mixologists, but by their grandmothers as well.
