When you smell Il Secondo, you’ll find it showcases the dark fruits and cherries typical of the Sangiovese grape variety, and the rusticity of Tuscan life. Notes of barnyard, leather and underwood come through.

When you taste Il Secondo, for all its flesh and warmth, there is something remarkably bright about it. An acidity brings together its tannic structure.

The Brains Behind It

Born on the land

Pacina is a family affair - Giovanna Tiezzi Borsa’s ancestors have been living at Pacina for five generations. Giovanna inherited the winery from her mother, Lucia, herself a pioneer who firmly believed in the natural forces of the land. Giovanna currently runs the business with her husband, Stefano, with the help of their children Maria and Roberto. The family values were outlined by Giovanna’s late father, Enzo: “To cultivate the land and make wine, it is first necessary to respect all that surrounds you.”
